| Biography |
Yvonne Kirkels is senior lecturer at the Institute of Business Management, Education & Technology and research fellow at the research department Business Engineering and Entrepreneurship of the Fontys University of Applied Science. She develops, coordinates and teaches innovation management courses and research methods in challenge-based education style. She is responsible for the bachelor thesis coordination and active in this area at national level. To stimulate interaction between research and education, she is leading in interdisciplinary collaborations herself with multiple business partners, other Fontys institutes and the TU Eindhoven.
Innovation and the increasing levels of collaboration in ecosystems has led her to investigate more closely the role of nodes and links in these processes. (Strategic) alliances, mediation processes, social networks, open supply chains and SMEs in (High-)Tech industries are her areas of expertise. She is currently doing research in the fieldlab SAMEN regarding the integration of technical and social innovation in SMART industries of the Brainport region in Eindhoven.
Individual behaviour affects what network opportunities are actually realized by companies. Entrepreneurship, as a process of realizing opportunities, is therefore also a research and teaching focus. Together with universities in Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany she offers an international entrepreneurship program, the pantherprogram, in the field of executive education.
