Kaunas University of Technology (KTU)

Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) is one the largest technological universities in the Baltics, with 11 thous. Students, and 2000 staff. KTU has a Startup Space (80 startups in 5 recent years) and contributes to solving real problems, carrying out 70 % of all the R&D provided by Lithuanian universities. KTU is also a founder of 2 integrated science, study, and business valleys (Santaka and Nemunas), providing an open-access laboratory spaces for collaboration among students, researchers, and business representatives.

University is leading in development of Technology Venturing and Innovation programmes, and also holds an important component of industrial design.. Technology Entrepreneurship programme is implemented across university and builds up on the best experiences of Silicon Valley. In 2018, KTU started a new master programme GTIME (Global Technology, Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship), with 6 global partners from Europe, India, Japan and Australia. KTU has EDU LAB – educational laboratory aiming at developing new teaching and learning methods, and deploying them across disciplines. KTU is ahub of Global Design Library, which is a creative education and working space for interdisciplinary initiatives. To complement the soft skills, KTU E-Learning Technology Centre is taking role of Technical Centre is responsible for national infrastructure and services of online learning. Being active in international projects KTU has joined several initiatives on Open Educational Resources and MOOCs development. KTU open courses has been listed in OpenupEd.eu portal and became a model for Lithuanian infrastructure of open courses. Recent participation in H2020 project Up2U resulted in establishment of Next Generation Digital Learning Environment for high schools that is joined by more than 100 Lithuanian schools.

KTU will participate in all project activities and contribute with its specific expertise in cross-cultural and cross- disciplinary module development in industrial design, technology, science, innovation and entrepreneurship, including business model innovation. KTU will specifically lead the WP3 and actively contribute to other, especially analysis, piloting and dissemination activities. WP3 is dedicated to the integrated module development, analysis across various institutions, and development of guidelines and teaching and training material, including tool box, as well as lead integrated co-creation workshops, and provide education for teachers (train the trainers). KTU has expertise in developing double degree programmes with multiply partners and integrating interdisciplinary modules through its MA+ and BA+ initiatives. IT has a large expertise due its EduLab and Design Library Actvities. This will specifically allow developing recommendations for partners from various countries on cross-disciplinary curriculum implementation with respect to the existing competence development level, industrial needs, teacher’s competence, and other institutionally defined specifics (resources, large vs small teaching classes, mixes of disciplines available and etc.) KTU will also be leading Platform and online learning with the aim to provide tools and methods for storing, exchange and disseminate teaching and learning materials, methodology, project outputs, and to create online learning mechanisms for online courses developed during and after project life time. KTU will be organizing and hosting the International Co-creation and Pilot activities. KTU will also contribute to other work packages, including needs in industry analysis, dissemination, collection and development of materials, and other foreseen tasks with its best competence and experience in the field.
